Industrial film about the brewery "de Gekroonde Valk" from van Vollenhoven Bierbrouwerij, describing brewing process. Begins with a fictional sequence. Photography work is particularly beautiful.
SEQUENCE LIST: man walking in the dunes under the sun, is tired and thirsty. He takes a nap under a small tree. He dreams of drinking beer, sitting in a café smoking and drinking with his friends. He wakes up very thirsty. Walks to a café-restaurant "Kraantje Lek" in Overveen, sits on the terrace, orders three beers, drinks happilly and asks the waiter. This is van Vollenhoven's beer. Production process (documentary): barley grains arriving, transported up - grain sorted, cleaned, aired, washed. Sprouting. Malt is grouded into flour, put into the coppers. Water added, cooking, filtering. "Wort" into other copper, addition of hop, cooking, cooling. Cooling aparatus. Yeast added, yeasting. Kegs in the courtyard, control of the kegs, washing. Shot of keg with a glass wall to show the cleaning inside. Lots of machinery. Cooling with ice, ice making. Laboratory. Bottling line for export: cleaning bottles, filling, corks, foil around cork, into a crate. Crates out of factory onto ships. Kegs on brewery owned boats for domestic transport.
